Why Does My Phone Brightness Keep Going Down?

Why does my phone brightness keep going down

When you take a photo with your phone, there are usually several different options available to you. Some phones will offer things like “night mode” or “super vivid” settings. Are they the same things as the “auto” setting on your phone? Probably not quite, but they all affect how bright the photo comes out in the end. The brightness setting directly affects how much light comes through in your photo. Read on for more details about what that means and how to use it for the best results every time. You probably know that taking a picture in low light conditions is challenging for most cameras, regardless of whether they are on a smartphone or some other device. That’s why many devices give you an option for adjusting the brightness level before snapping a photo. While each manufacturer uses slightly different terminology, this setting generally falls under one of two headings: auto or manual.

Why does my phone brightness keep going down?

If your phone has an auto-brightness setting, it means that your device is supposed to adjust the brightness level of the screen to match the lighting conditions. This can be a useful feature if you are trying to take a photo with your phone in a low-light area. The problem is that this setting doesn’t always do what you think it will. For example, if your phone says it is set on auto, but you are in a very dark room, chances are that the screen isn’t going to get any darker than it already is. You might think that this isn’t such a big deal since the image will still come out fine. However, when you compare photos taken with auto-brightness against those taken with manual brightness settings, there can be some significant differences in quality.

When To Use Manual Brightness?

You have a strong backlight in your photo.

You need to take a picture of something that has very dark or very light colors.

You are trying to capture a “noir” feel for your photos.

You want to use the flash and you aren’t sure how bright it will be on its own.

When To Use Auto-Brightness?

Low light conditions –

Auto-Brightness is the best setting to use when taking a photo in low-light conditions. The camera will automatically adjust the brightness to give you the best possible shot.

Taking pictures of people –

If you’re taking a photo of a person, then auto-brightness is also your best choice. It will give you the best-looking skin tone for that person in particular and will make your picture look more natural overall.

Taking pictures of scenery –

If you’re taking a picture of the scenery, then auto-brightness is also your best option. The camera will detect the surrounding environment and give you an appropriate adjustment based on how much light there is in that situation.

Taking pictures of objects –

When it comes to taking photos of objects, then auto-brightness may not be your best option because it won’t be able to detect what’s being photographed and adjust for it accordingly.

Taking pictures indoors –

This one goes without saying, but when shooting indoors, auto-brightness is not going to work quite as well as some other options because indoor lighting can vary so much from room to room and even from wall to wall or floor to ceiling within any given room or area.

Brightness isn’t adjustable on some phones –

On some phones (typically older phones), this option might not even exist at all due to the fact that there simply aren’t enough settings available on those devices for this kind of thing.

When you want manual control –

If you’re looking for the best exposure possible, then auto-brightness is not going to give it to you. The camera will set the brightness based on what it thinks will look best and that’s not always going to be a great thing when you really want to have total control over the exposure in your photo.

You have a newer phone –

If you have a newer phone, then auto-brightness is probably still your best bet, but at least now you know that there are other options available if your phone doesn’t offer that option or if the feature isn’t working very well for your needs at all.

Your camera has been set incorrectly –

Sometimes auto-brightness might not work as it should because your camera has been set incorrectly. This is especially true if you don’t use auto-adjust often and forget to change it back once in a while when necessary or if someone else adjusted your camera for some reason with this feature active and forgot to change it back after they were done using it.

You’re shooting in RAW –

Some cameras actually automatically adjust their settings based on whether or not the RAW mode is enabled and some do not, so if this applies to your device, then auto-brightness may be disabled automatically when shooting in RAW which means that this setting won’t appear on your screen at all while using that particular mode of operation.

How To Fix Dropped Brightness?

  1. Make sure that your phone is set to auto-brightness –

If you’re on a newer device, then this may not even be an issue, but if you’re using an older model or one that doesn’t offer this feature at all, then this is the first thing that you should check.

  1. Check your settings –

If your camera has been set incorrectly, then it may be causing the issue which means that you’ll need to adjust it and make sure that it’s set properly.

  1. Reset the device –

Sometimes simply resetting the device will fix any issues with brightness and will allow auto-brightness to work properly again.

  1. Adjust the brightness manually –

This should only be done if auto-brightness isn’t working after taking the above steps or if you simply want more control over how bright or dark your photos come out to look in general because there are times when auto-brightness can cause images to come out too dark or too light for some users so having this option available is kind of nice for those who prefer manual control over their images when they can get it.

5 . Turn off auto-brightness –

This is one of the more drastic options but turning off auto-brightness completely might be necessary in some cases where other methods don’t work well enough or where this feature just isn’t available at all on a particular device.

Final Words

The brightness setting on your camera is important for ensuring that you get a high-quality photo every time. While you can adjust the brightness level manually, you may want to experiment with the different levels to see what works best in your situation.
