Do I have to trade in my phone to upgrade to Verizon

The cell phone market is saturated with new devices, features, and models popping up every day. Because of this, consumers are becoming more conscious about their cell phone upgrade options. Fortunately, Verizon has made it easy for its users to stay on top of their device’s technological advances. The wireless provider allows you to trade in your old device for a new one at any time of the year not just during special occasions like Black Friday or back-to-school season. How do you know if your current device is outdated? Consider these factors: Do you have an older operating system that lacks security upgrades? Is your camera quality subpar compared to other phones on the market? Are you using a pre-5GHz Wi-Fi model? Does your screen resolution seem grainy and pixelated compared to other newer models? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, now may be the perfect time for an upgrade!

Do I have to trade in my phone to upgrade to Verizon?

You don’t have to trade in your phone to upgrade with Verizon, but it can help lower your monthly payments. If you decide to keep your phone, you can still trade it in later or sell it to offset the cost of a new device.

How To Trade In Your Old Device?

1. Choose your new phone

If you’re ready to upgrade and trade-in your current device, the next step is to choose which new phone you want. To view available devices, visit the Verizon Wireless website or browse through our online store.

2. Order your new phone online

Once you’ve chosen a device, place your order and pay for it with a credit card or PayPal account.

3. Request an unlock code

Verizon will unlock the SIM card in your current phone so that you can use it with another carrier’s service if needed. You’ll need to request an unlock code so that you can complete this process before returning your old device to Verizon.

4. Return your old device to Verizon

Once you’ve received both the unlock code and instructions from Verizon, follow them carefully for the proper return of your old device. If all goes well, within a few days of receiving and processing your old device, we’ll apply for the payment from the trade-in value toward the purchase price of your new phone.

5. Activate your new phone

Once you’ve returned your old device, you can use the SIM card that came with your new device to activate it. If you’re a new customer, the SIM card will be active immediately when you receive it. If you’re an existing customer and transferring service from another device, it will take 24-48 hours for the activation process to complete.

5. Manage your account

Once your trade-in is complete, all future payments for this device will be automatically deducted from your Verizon Wireless account until it’s paid off in full or reaches the end of its installment payment period (which is usually 24 months from the purchase date).

Reasons Why You Should Upgrade With Verizon:

1. Unlimited talk and text

Verizon offers unlimited talk, text, and web with select plans. You can use your phone as much as you want, no matter how many minutes you purchase.

2. $0 down

You don’t need to pay any upfront fees for a new phone with Verizon. You’ll start paying the monthly service fee right away, but you won’t have to pay anything more until your current device is paid off in full or reaches the end of its installment payment period (which is usually 24 months from the purchase date). For example, if you choose a 30-month plan with 12 payments, you’ll pay $15 per month for the first 12 months. Then, after your first payment is applied toward your device’s cost, you’ll make monthly payments of $15 or less until the remaining balance on your device is paid in full or reaches the end of its installment payment period (which is usually 24 months from the purchase date).

3. The choice between two devices

If you already own a smartphone and want to upgrade to another one with Verizon Wireless, we offer a trade-in option that lets you get up to 50% of its retail value toward a new smartphone. If you decide later that you don’t want this phone any longer, no problem! You can sell it back through our online store or give it away to someone else who might be interested in it – even if they’re not an existing Verizon Wireless customer! Just remember that when exchanging it for a new phone, you’ll have to pay the full retail price of the device in full.

4. Upgrade to a new smartphone with Verizon Wireless

If you want to upgrade to a more advanced smartphone, Verizon Wireless has an online store where you can browse options and purchase one that fits your lifestyle. You can also choose from many models that are compatible with Verizon’s network and use it on our nation’s fastest LTE network.

5. Get an extended warranty on your new smartphone

Verizon Wireless offers an extended warranty on all smartphones purchased through our online store or at one of our retail stores (see details on how to get this warranty). This insurance allows you to buy a replacement phone for only the cost of the deductible, no matter what happens to your original phone during its first 24 months of ownership. This is great coverage if your phone is lost or stolen, too!

6. Verizon Family Plan – Share Everything!

If you already have other lines on your account and want to add another one, simply add it as a line by calling customer care. You can share everything within this account with everyone who has the same plan and number – no matter who they are! This includes unlimited talk and text, unlimited mobile hotspot service for up to 10 devices, a family messaging plan that allows up to 10 people in each household (and unlimited message sending), as well as data of all but perhaps the most expensive plans.

Summing Up

The cell phone market is saturated with new devices, features, and models popping up every day. Because of this, consumers are becoming more conscious about their cell phone upgrade options. Fortunately, Verizon has made it easy for its users to stay on top of their device’s technological advances. The wireless provider allows you to trade in your old device for a new one at any time of the year not just during special occasions like Black Friday or back-to-school season. When you decide you want to trade in your device, you’ll want to make sure it’s eligible. A device trade-in is when you sell your old, unused cell phone to a company in exchange for cash or a new model. We recommend taking your budget into account, but also paying attention to details like storage, software, and camera quality.
