Discovering Who Lives On Your Street

Have you ever asked yourself, who lives on my street? Do they have a sinister past I don’t know about? These days, you can’t be too careful about who you interact with, including your neighbors. If you find out who lives in your neighborhood, there are tools you can use to your advantage.

In this article, we’ll answer the question, how do you find out who lives on your street? Follow these tips, and you’ll soon have a list of residents on a street near you.

How To Find Out Who Lives In Your Neighborhood

Let’s start out by showing you how to conduct a standard “who lives on a street” search.

Write down the addresses on your street

It’s easier if the street you are investigating isn’t too big. However, if it’s a larger street, you may want to skip step two. Writing down the addresses on your street will help you know exactly which address searches to perform.

Find your county government web page

Public sites run by the government might also give you some insight. So, if you need to know who lives on your street, check what website hosts the government’s information regarding your county. As a rule, a Google search with your county name will do the trick.

Navigate to the assessor’s website

County assessors keep massive databases of information by address, which are used primarily for taxing individual homeowners but can also be used for other purposes. If you can’t find an assessor site, you can look at the recorder of deeds or visit the county government building.

Perform a search for your street

If the street has a unique name, you may be able to simply type it to view all positive hits for that name. Unfortunately, any of those results may include empty lots of land, which can waste time. Verify your list from Step 1 against those findings. Open each one in a new tab. It should show the owner of the property each time.

Perform a reverse address search for rented homes and apartments

For rented homes and apartments, you can perform a reverse address search to find out who lives there. A free reverse address search will give you the results if all you want is the name of the resident. They will give you that information for free on most reverse address sites to entice you to purchase more services from them. Since all you need is a name, you can just move on with the name and not pay.

Other Ways To Find Who Lives On Your Street

In addition to the steps outlined above, there are other ways you can find people who live on a street:

  1. Use online reverse lookup directories: You can use online reverse lookup directories, such as Whitepages.com or Anywho, to search for phone listings by a specific address. These directories allow you to find people who live in the vicinity of a set address.
  2. Check land records: Public records, such as city or county land records, can reveal who’s associated with houses in a community. You can look up land records in person at your city or county land records office or search for them online, although there may be a fee for the service.
  3. Search on search engines and social media: You can also search for the address on search engines like Google or Bing to see if someone has listed the address in an online resume or a business profile or if the address has been featured in the news media. Social media posts on sites like Facebook, Twitter, or LinkedIn can also provide clues about who lives at a particular address.
  4. Use geographical social media: Some social media platforms, such as Nextdoor, Foursquare’s Swarm, and Yelp, are geographically focused and allow users to check in at locations, post reviews, and discuss the going-ons of the street. You can use this to find more information.

Now you know how to find out who lives in your neighborhood, and you can start your investigation. Remember to respect their privacy and not to use their information in a negative or invasive way. Good fences make good neighbors, after all.
